The Shurijeh-D reservoir, located in the northeastern part of Iran near Sarakhs city, is part of the Khangiran Gas field. In 2009, it was designated as an underground gas storage (UGS) facility. Phase-I of the Shurijeh UGS plant, completed in 2014, established the necessary infrastructure for gas injection and withdrawal. Phase-I operations confirmed the reservoir’s capacity for additional gas storage.
Phase-II Development Plan
Objective:
- Increase the storage capacity to 4.5 billion cubic meters.
Responsibilities:
- The HOST COMPANY oversees all underground gas storage in the country, including Shurijeh-D.
- The selected INVESTOR, MAPNA, will operate all existing Shurijeh-D UGS facilities and upstream infrastructure for a commercial period.
- MAPNA will conduct a comprehensive reservoir study/monitoring to facilitate Phase-II development.

- Integrated Operation and Maintenance:
- Includes both Phase I and II systems.
- Gas Transfer:
- Transfer of gas to/from HOST COMPANY as per the defined contract.
Contract Time Period:
- 9 months from March 12, 2021.
