South Pars Gas Field Development Project – Phases 6, 7 & 8 C4A Up-Stream Area
The South Pars Gas Field Development Project for Phases 6, 7, and 8 focuses on expanding Iran’s natural gas and condensate production capacity. The gas plant, located in Assaluyeh, about 270 kilometers southeast of Bushehr, is a vital part of the nation’s energy infrastructure and export strategy.
The main objective of these phases is to efficiently produce and deliver large volumes of gas and condensate for onshore processing and further distribution. The combined facilities are designed to process up to 3,000 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) of reservoir fluids, with each phase engineered for a 1,000 MMSCFD dry gas handling capacity. This ensures reliable and continuous support for Iran’s domestic market and export commitments.
C4A Upstream Facilities and Process Units
The upstream area, designated as C4A, is equipped with specialized process units that ensure safe and efficient gas and condensate recovery:
- Unit 100: Reception Facilities – Initial intake and pre-treatment of reservoir fluids
- Unit 101: HP (High Pressure) Separation Unit – Separation of gas and condensate at high pressure
- Unit 102: MEG (Monoethylene Glycol) Recovery – Recovery and recycling of MEG used for hydrate inhibition
- Unit 109: Sour Water Stripper – Removal of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and other contaminants from produced water
- Unit 140: Flare KO Drums – Knock-out drums for flare gas systems to remove liquids before flaring
- Unit 142: Closed Drain Drum – Safe containment of process drains and liquid residues
- Unit 145: Propane Bullet – Storage of propane in pressurized bullet tanks for process and utility needs
These process units form the backbone of the upstream operations in Phases 6, 7, and 8, supporting the reliable production and safe handling of natural gas and condensate for onshore treatment and export from the South Pars field.
