Lorch Petrochemical Industries Project – Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone

Lorch Petrochemical Industries is a major new petrochemical development located in the Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone (PEISEZ) in Hormozgan province, Iran. The complex spans an area of 80 hectares and is positioned to become a key player in the country’s fast-growing chemicals and polymers industry.

The project is being executed in two main phases, each delivering vital production capacity and supporting Iran’s strategic objectives in value-added chemical manufacturing and export.

  • Phase One: The first phase of Lorch Petrochemical Industries centers on the establishment of a state-of-the-art Methanol plant with a production capacity of 5,000 tons per day (T/D). This phase also incorporates all necessary Utility units to ensure stable and efficient operation of the complex.
  • Phase Two: The second phase expands production by adding advanced polymer and olefin units, including:
    • MTO (Methanol-to-Olefins): 650,000 tons per annum (KTA)
    • PP (Polypropylene): 300,000 tons per annum (KTA)
    • LL/HDPE (Linear Low/High Density Polyethylene): 350,000 tons per annum (KTA)
These new units position the complex as a major producer of versatile plastics and base chemicals for both domestic consumption and export markets.

The overarching objective for the Lorch Petrochemical Industries project is to deliver conceptual design, basic engineering, detailed engineering, procurement engineering services, and comprehensive field engineering for all utility, interconnection, and off-site units. This approach ensures robust plant performance, safe operation, and seamless integration with the broader infrastructure of the PEISEZ zone.

Main Utility and Off-Site Units

The utility and off-site units form the backbone of the Lorch complex, delivering critical services to each production line and ensuring regulatory and environmental compliance. The key utility and off-site units include:

  • Gas Station: Ensures secure and reliable supply of natural gas for process and utility needs.
  • Cooling Tower: Provides cooling for various process streams and heat exchangers across the site.
  • Air Supply Unit: Delivers compressed air and process air to support plant instrumentation and chemical reactions.
  • Waste Water Treatment: Treats and purifies process and utility effluents, supporting environmental protection and regulatory standards.
  • Steam Generation: Produces steam for process heating, energy, and utility operations throughout the complex.
  • RO Package: Reverse osmosis water purification unit, delivering high-purity water for sensitive operations and steam generation.
  • Water Unit: Comprehensive systems for water supply, distribution, and quality control for all plant operations.
  • Interconnection & Off-Site: All necessary links, pipelines, and infrastructure for integration with other facilities in PEISEZ, ensuring a smooth interface with the regional utility network.

Each utility and off-site unit is designed and engineered to support the production, environmental, and safety goals of the project, making Lorch Petrochemical Industries one of the most advanced chemical complexes in the region.
