The Khangiran Gas Treating Plant, located in northeast Iran, is expanding its sulfur management and environmental capabilities with the addition of Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) #4. This new unit is designed to meet increasing operational demands and address both production and environmental objectives at the Khangiran Refinery.
SRU #4 will be constructed directly adjacent to the third sulfur recovery unit, within the defined battery limit of the existing refinery infrastructure. Each SRU at Khangiran is engineered with a robust processing capacity of 650 metric tons per day (MTPD) of elemental sulfur, utilizing the proven CLAUS process system. The CLAUS process is globally recognized for its effectiveness in converting hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from sour gas into marketable elemental sulfur, minimizing emissions and supporting safe plant operation.
By leveraging advanced sulfur recovery technology and adding new capacity, the Khangiran Gas Treating Plant reinforces its role as a leading facility for clean, efficient, and environmentally responsible natural gas processing in Iran.
