Kharg Island, Iran
The Kharg Island Gas Gathering and NGL Recovery Project is a strategic development in Iran’s oil and gas sector, initiated to enhance the collection, treatment, and export of valuable hydrocarbons from both onshore and offshore fields. Contracted by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (I.O.O.C), this ambitious onshore project is executed by IRITEC and IRASCO under a full EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mandate. The project addresses the need for advanced gas gathering, compression, NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) recovery, and efficient export infrastructure on Kharg Island, one of Iran’s main energy hubs in the Persian Gulf.
The scope of the project includes the construction of extensive pipeline and reception facilities, state-of-the-art onshore gas compression stations, dual NGL trains for the recovery of natural gas liquids, robust NGL storage solutions, and modern export terminals. By gathering gas from both onshore and offshore production sources, the facility is poised to maximize resource utilization and enhance Iran’s petrochemical export capability.
The NGL recovery facility is a newly developed project, featuring the simultaneous construction of two independent gas treatment and NGL recovery plants. These plants are designed to operate in parallel, sharing essential utilities and a common liquid export system, thus ensuring operational efficiency and flexibility. The process is fed by a mix of onshore and offshore gas streams, enabling steady supply to both domestic and international markets.
Tehran Raymand’s work covers the engineering and integration of all pipelines, utilities, process control systems, and shared support infrastructure that connect the major process units and support seamless, safe plant operation.
The successful completion of the Kharg Island Gas Gathering and NGL Recovery Project will significantly boost Iran’s gas treatment and export infrastructure, supporting sustainable resource management and reinforcing Kharg Island’s role as a key energy export hub.
