Forouz B Gas Field Development
MAPNA Oil and Gas Development Company, acting as the Buy Back Contractor for the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (Owner), has undertaken the development of the Forooz B gas field. The goal is to produce and treat 1000 MMSCFD of gas. The onshore facilities will be located on Qeshm Island, approximately 180 km from the offshore installations.
Purpose:
- Maximize the recovery of C3+ components
- Produce saleable products such as lean gas, propane, butane, natural gasoline, and sulfur
- Deliver lean gas at the battery limit
Project Scope
The project includes the design and construction of all processing units, utilities, offsite facilities, and necessary infrastructure to manufacture these products.
Project Responsibilities

- Conceptualization
- Basic design
- Front-end engineering design (FEED)
- Preparation of EPC tender documents

Plant Components
Unit-100: Reception Facilities
- Handles the initial reception of gas from offshore installations.
Unit-101: Gas Sweetening Unit
- Removes H₂S and CO₂ from the gas stream.
Unit-102: Glycol Regeneration (MEG) and Injection to Offshore
- Regenerates and injects monoethylene glycol (MEG) to prevent hydrate formation.
Unit-103: Condensate Stabilization Unit
- Stabilizes condensate to prevent vaporization during storage and transport.
Unit-104: Gas Dehydration / Mercury Removal Unit
- Removes water vapor and mercury from the gas stream.
Unit-105: LPG Extraction Unit
- Extracts liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the gas stream.
Unit-106: Export Gas Compression Unit
- Compresses gas for export.
Unit-107: LPG Fractionation Unit
- Separates LPG into its components (propane, butane, etc.).
Unit-108: Sulfur Recovery Unit
- Recovers sulfur from the gas stream.
Unit-109: Sour Water Stripping Unit
- Treats sour water to remove contaminants.
Unit-110: Condensate Back-up Stabilization Unit
- Provides additional stabilization for condensate.
Unit-111: Propane Refrigeration Unit
- Provides refrigeration for propane storage and handling.
Unit-113: C3/C4 Caustic Regeneration Unit
- Regenerates caustic used in treating propane and butane.
Unit-114: Propane Treatment and Drying Unit
- Treats and dries propane for storage and export.
Unit-115: Butane Treatment and Drying Unit
- Treats and dries butane for storage and export.
Unit-143: Condensate Storage and Export
- Stores and manages the export of stabilized condensate.
Unit-144: Sulfur Storage and Solidification
- Manages the storage and solidification of recovered sulfur.
Unit-147: Propane Storage and Export
- Manages the storage and export of propane.
Utility Facilities
- Includes all necessary utilities to support plant operations.
