Project Description
Tang-e-Bijar & Kamankuh Gas Field Development Second Phase
The Tang-e-Bijar and Kamankouh gas fields are situated in the Zagros Mountains in the west of Iran, approximately 125 km from Kermanshah and 60 km from Ilam. These fields are currently in production, supplying gas to various parts of the western provinces of Iran. The gas produced is sour, containing high percentages of CO₂ and H₂S, and the formation water has a high concentration of Cl- ions. The production wells are spread across a wide area, with wells located about 15 km apart.
Current Production Phase
Wells:
- Gas is produced from five wells (wells No. 3, 5, 8, 9, and 11).
Processing:
- Tang-e-Bijar Central Facility (TCF):
- Gas, gas condensate, and water are separated in a slug catcher.
- Separated gas is transferred to ISF facilities via an 18-inch pipeline (40 km distance).
- Gas condensate is sent to a three-phase separator to remove any remaining water.
- Condensate is then pumped to ISF facilities via a 6-inch pipeline.
ISF Facilities:
- The gas from TCF is introduced into a slug catcher at ISF to separate any remaining liquids.
- The processed gas is delivered to the Ilam refinery.
Project Objectives
Due to recent accidents and explosions at TCF, the project aims to study, evaluate, troubleshoot, and provide solutions to improve the safety and efficiency of the following components:
Flow Lines from Wells to TCF:
- Evaluate current conditions and troubleshoot issues.
TCF Facilities:
- Improve the safety and operational efficiency of gas and condensate separation and handling.
Gas Transmission Pipeline (TCF to ISF):
- Assess the integrity and capacity of the existing 18-inch pipeline.
ISF Facilities:
- Ensure safe and efficient processing of gas and condensate from TCF.
Future Expansion
The project also considers the integration of three additional production wells and an increased capacity of 10 MMSCMD of produced gas. The next phase will involve:
Re-evaluation of Flow Lines from Wells to TCF:
- Adapt to the increased gas production.
Enhancements to TCF Facilities:
- Upgrade facilities to handle the increased gas and condensate volumes.
Upgrading Gas/Condensate Transmission Pipelines:
- Ensure pipelines can support the higher capacity.
Improving ISF Facilities:
- Expand and enhance processing capabilities for the increased gas flow.
Deliverables
- Basic Engineering Package:
- Preparation of a comprehensive basic engineering package to support the next phase of development.
